Test Management Certifications
IIST offers three levels of test management certifications that help testing and quality assurance professionals advance in their test management career. You may click on each certification for more details.
Good and robust test management process is crucial for the success of any software project. That is why test management training is a must for every individual who is responsible for managing the testing effort. Test management includes three essential components. These are managing the test team, managing the test project itself, and managing the test process. The goal of test management certifications offered by IIST is to provide test professionals with the knowledge, techniques, and methods they need to effectively manage every aspect of the testing effort. The Test Management Body of Knowledge (TMBOK) developed by the IIST Advisory Board consists of seven areas of areas of knowledge that cover every aspect of managing the testing effort. The knowledge covered by these areas of the TMBOK can be mastered through test management courses offered by IIST. Each of the three levels of the test management certifications require a candidate to attend certain number of test management courses. Each course covers certain areas of the TMBOK as follows:
Certified Software Test Lead (CSTL)
This level requires certification candidates to attend 4 days test management training that cover the following areas of the TMBOK:
- Area #1: Test Process Management
- Area #2: Test Project Management
- Area #3: Test Process Measurement and Improvement
- One day of test management training that covers any subject area in software testing that relates to individual's job responsibility
Certified Test Manager – Practitioner Level (CTM-P)
Certified Test Manager – Practitioner Level (CTM-P)
This level requires certification candidates to attend 3 days test management training that cover the following areas of the TMBOK:
- Area #4: Test Organization Management
- Area #5: Risk Management
- One day of training that covers any subject area in software testing that relates to individual's job responsibility.
Candidates of the certification must pass a written exam in each course
Certified Test Manager – Master Level (CTM-M)
This level requires certification candidates to attend 3 days test management training that cover the following areas of the TMBOK:
- Area #6: Test Automation Strategies and Architecture
- Area #7: Software Quality Assurance
- One day of training that covers any subject area in software testing that relates to individual's job responsibility.
Candidates of the certification must pass a written exam in each course
